Mushroom Picking Nature-Walk

Mushroom picking nature-walk under the guidance of mycologist Veiko Kastanje. Let`s see how many species we can find. Prepare to be amazed by how many different mushrooms grow in our forests, some which we may never notice during our everyday walks. Veiko has a story to tell about every mushroom he sees in the forest. We will learn how to find our own mushroom spots, which mushrooms to pick and which ones to leave in the forest, and how to preserve mushrooms for the winter. He also knows stories about “magical mushrooms”, their psychedelic qualities and the health benefits of mushrooms, both from our forests and from distant continents.
The nature-walk will end with a special surprise. In the middle of mushrooms and nature our chef will prepare a delicious bite from the mushrooms you picked during the walk. A real treat for any forager.

Veiko Kastanje has studied mycology and botany at Tartu University; also worked as a guest researcher at Helsinki University, University of Gothenburg and National Botanical Garden of Belgium. Veiko uses every opportunity for travelling, making mushroom trips or organizing mushroom exhibitions. He has also translated several mushroom picking and identification handbooks into Estonian.

Our Chef de Cuisine has created a fabulous 3-course dinner, special menu dedicated to the tastes of the islands from the local ingredients, in which foraged mushrooms will play a significant role.
